Resilient Community Sessions

Community members regularly convene to learn about what it means to be a Resilient and Trauma-Informed Community.

NOTICE: Due to the COVID19 pandemic, all Foundation Sessions will be held virtually on Zoom.

Building the Foundation

Building a Foundation for this work in our communities focuses on creating the conditions to support community change.

Gain an introduction to Resilient and Trauma-Informed Community effort and learn more about by attending a Foundation session. This virtual 3 hour session begins with a screening of the film Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope, followed by group conversation and activities on Resilience and Empathy. You will learn about how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and childhood/community traumas affect adult health and socioeconomic outcomes. You will begin to learn how to address this in your classroom, practice, agency, or home life and see how entire communities are coming together to address this important public health threat.

Foundation Sessions
are offered to support the individual to learn more about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on the health and well being of our community.  We also learn about the role of resilience and how a trauma-informed approach can make all the difference in the world.

Foundation of Resilience

The child may not remember. But the body remembers. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress and trauma can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on brains and bodies, putting people at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time, mental health challenges and early death. The documentary “Resilience” chronicles the dawn of a movement that is determined to build a community response to trauma and strengthen resilience.

Foundation of Empathy

Becoming a resilient and trauma-informed community is more than just something we do at work or home.  It’s an intentional focus on who we are.  Foundation of Empathy personalizes the Resilient and Trauma-Informed Community Framework by reflecting on our assumptions, beliefs, and emotions surrounding the relationships we have with others.

If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
