Our Resilient and Trauma-Informed Community (RTIC) is enabled by a network of Champions who represent the many organizations and coalitions that share in this collective work. Champions act as ambassadors for the work, using their connections and expertise to align their individual work with the RTIC Framework. This ensures that the work of our Champions and their organizations is mutually-supporting and achieving the common goal of a connected, healthy, and resilient community.

A Network of Champions
This diagram illustrates how the RTIC Champion network is built. Each color represents a different kind of organization. Some have multiple Champions, who may also be organizational leaders. Smaller organizations may only have one Champion. Not all staff need to be Champions; those who assist in the effort are Resilience Builders, because we can all play a role in building resilience. Champions are connected to each other by the RTIC Support Team, a group of volunteers from a variety of sectors that plans trainings, hosts educational sessions, and regularly brings Champions together in a Community of Practice to stay connected and learn from each other.

The Role of the Champion
Champions play two key roles in the RTIC effort:
After initial ACEs education and participation in a Foundation Training, anyone can become an RTIC Champion. They are given access to additional educational and support materials, including facilitation assistance for in-house RTIC Foundation sessions. Regular Champion Development sessions provide education and skill-building opportunities as well as ongoing orientation to the RTIC effort. Quarterly Community of Practice events provide a chance for Champions to exchange ideas, support each other's work, and share successes and challenges.

Champion Development
These quarterly sessions provide both education and ongoing orientation, giving RTIC Champions the opportunity to build skills, learn more about the RTIC framework and how to implement it, explore RTIC resources, and dig deeper into topics like Collective Impact, Implementation Science, adaptive leadership, and other topics. These sessions are Champion-driven and responsive to current needs, so participants are asked to come with ideas and feedback about what they want to learn.

Community of Practice
The RTIC Community of Practice brings together Champions to share best practices they are implementing in order to be more resilient and trauma-informed. At these gatherings, we meet by sectors, so that Champions in similar fields can learn from each other about working toward resilient organizations, effective partnerships, and efficient systems that disrupt the cycle of trauma, strengthen resilience, and restore lives.
